1. Purpose of The Business Plan and Background
The purpose of this business plan is to provide the owners, management, potential funders and other stakeholders of the business with a ‘business roadmap’ of the proposed guest house. It covers aspects pertaining to the competition, sales and marketing, management, operations, the industry and external environment.
The guest house is intended to be set up in the outskirts of Rustenburg. The business was conceptualized by three passionate, keen, dedicated and committed entrepreneurs namely; Thato, Paul and David. It will form part of South Africa’s vibrant tourism and hospitality Industry.
2. Business Description
Africa Sunrise Experience Guest House will specialize in providing accommodation to both domestic and foreign tourists. As the guest house will be strategically located near Sun City and a game park, clients will originate from distant areas. The guest house will feature the following:
- It will have sixteen (16) tastefully arranged en-suite bedrooms
- All bedrooms will have DSTV and telephone facilities
- Air conditioning to cater for both cooling and heating
- Attractive scenery
- Telephone facilities
- Secure parking for clients
- Close proximity and easy access to the game park
- Well equipped kitchen
- Laundry facilities
To set up the business, the shareholders will arrange for lease finance to acquire a farm house near Sun City and a game park and render improvements so as to make it practical for a hospitable guest house. Sixteen en-suite bedrooms will be developed together with a comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen, active laundry area and welcoming reception will be created.
3. Critical Success Factors
Marketing will be a critical area for the business as most of the proposed clientele will originate from places distant from Rustenburg. Marketing will focus on establishing awareness for the business, providing information about the business and the services it offers, as well as facilitating reservations or bookings. It will be important to assess the levels of customer satisfaction by means of surveys and feedback media so as to establish avenues aimed at constant improvement. It will be critical to have the guest house graded as guided by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA). This will provide an indication to potential guests as to the quality of service and facilities to expect.
3.2 Human Resources
It will be imperative to have trained, skilled, knowledgeable and competent staff as the business will be in the hospitality industry.
