14.1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
Eternal Rest Funeral Services is committed to meaningful B-BBEE compliance and contribution. With 50% black ownership (Thabo Mokoena at 40% and Naledi Dlamini at 10%), the company will achieve strong ownership credentials. The company targets a minimum Level 2 B-BBEE contributor status, strengthening its eligibility for government contracts and corporate tenders.
Key B-BBEE scorecard elements will include: ownership (50% black-owned); management control (majority black management team); skills development (ongoing staff training and bursaries); enterprise and supplier development (preferential procurement from B-BBEE compliant suppliers and support for emerging black-owned businesses in the supply chain); and socioeconomic development (community grief support programmes, funeral planning workshops, and bursary sponsorships).
14.2 Community Impact
Eternal Rest will invest in community development through several initiatives. These include free grief counselling workshops open to the public; funeral planning and will preparation education programmes; annual memorial events honouring the community’s departed; sponsorship of community events and youth development programmes; and partnerships with NGOs focused on bereavement support and vulnerable families.
14.3 Employment Creation
The company will create 15 direct jobs at commencement, growing to 25–30 positions by Year 5. In addition, the business will support indirect employment through supplier relationships, event catering, floral arrangements, printing services, and transportation partnerships.
