14.1 Job Creation
SilverClove Farms will create significant employment in the Piketberg region, providing 85 permanent positions and approximately 120 seasonal employment opportunities during peak harvest periods. The Company is committed to paying above-minimum-wage rates, providing skills development and training programmes, and offering safe, dignified working conditions in compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and relevant sectoral determinations for agriculture.
14.2 B-BBEE and Transformation
The Company’s ownership structure, with 55% black ownership (including 40% black female ownership), positions SilverClove Farms as a strong B-BBEE contributor. The Employee Trust further enhances the transformation profile. Management will implement targeted enterprise and supplier development programmes to support emerging black-owned businesses within the agricultural value chain.
14.3 Environmental Sustainability
Environmental stewardship is integral to the Company’s operational philosophy. Key sustainability initiatives include water-efficient drip irrigation reducing consumption by 30–40% versus conventional flood irrigation, integrated pest management minimising chemical input, soil conservation through composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation, energy efficiency through solar-powered irrigation pump stations (Phase 2), and waste minimisation through composting of crop residues and packaging optimisation.
14.4 Community Engagement
The Company will establish a Community Development Fund, allocating 1% of annual net profit to local education, healthcare, and agricultural training initiatives in the Piketberg community. Additionally, the Company will provide bursaries for local students pursuing agricultural qualifications and will offer mentorship programmes for emerging smallholder farmers.
