Target Customers & Sales Strategy

The Company's primary customers will be accredited avocado export packhouses in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions. Key target packhouses include Westfalia Fruit, ZZ2, Halls,…

7.1 Target Customer Segments

7.1.1 Export Packhouses

The Company’s primary customers will be accredited avocado export packhouses in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions. These facilities operate as intermediaries between producers and international buyers, providing grading, packing, cold-chain management, and export logistics. Key target packhouses include Westfalia Fruit, ZZ2, Halls, and other PPECB-accredited facilities operating in the region. Offtake agreements will be structured on a multi-year basis with floor pricing mechanisms.

7.1.2 International Produce Buyers

As the Company matures and develops its own export capability, direct relationships with international produce buyers will be pursued. Target buyers include major European fruit importers and retail group procurement divisions. This channel offers higher net returns per kilogram but requires investment in own packing and cold-chain infrastructure.

7.1.3 Domestic Market Channels

Non-export-grade fruit will be sold through the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market, Tshwane Fresh Produce Market, and direct contracts with major South African retailers (Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Shoprite/Checkers). Domestic market margins are lower than export but provide revenue diversification and minimise wastage.

7.1.4 Processing Companies

Processing-grade fruit will be supplied to avocado oil processors (e.g., Westfalia Oils) and guacamole manufacturers. While pricing is at the lower end, this channel ensures full utilisation of the harvest and minimises economic waste.

7.2 Sales Strategy

  • Year 1–3: 100% of produce sold through packhouse offtake agreements to establish market reputation and quality track record

  • Year 4–5: Introduce direct international buyer relationships for approximately 20–30% of export volume

  • Year 6+: Evaluate investment in on-farm packhouse and cold storage to capture additional margin
