Over the five-year planning period, underpinned by a water-efficient, high-yield hydroponic production model.
15.1 Phase 2 Expansion (Years 3–5)
Following the successful establishment of the initial 5-hectare facility, the Company plans to expand greenhouse capacity by an additional 3 hectares by Year 4, funded from internally generated cash flows and, if required, incremental debt financing. This expansion will increase total production capacity by approximately 60%, enabling the Company to service additional retail contracts and expand its geographic market coverage.
15.2 Product Diversification
The Company will investigate the introduction of additional high-value product lines including microgreens, edible flowers, specialty Asian vegetables, and premium strawberries – all of which are well-suited to hydroponic production and command premium pricing in South African markets. Organic certification will also be pursued to access the growing organic produce segment.
15.3 Export Market Development
By Year 3, the Company will actively develop export market channels, targeting demand for fresh herbs and specialty vegetables in regional African markets (Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius) and, subject to achieving the required phytosanitary certifications, European Union markets where South African fresh produce benefits from preferential trade agreements.
15.4 Technology and Innovation
Ongoing investment in agricultural technology will include exploration of vertical farming modules for ultra-high-density herb production, LED grow light supplementation for winter productivity enhancement, robotics for automated harvesting and packing, and advanced data analytics for predictive yield modelling and resource optimisation.
