12.1 Job Creation

The Company will create a total of 38 direct permanent employment positions at full capacity, with additional seasonal and contract employment during peak production periods. The majority of positions will be filled by local community members from Stellenbosch and surrounding areas, contributing to local economic development and poverty alleviation.

12.2 Skills Development

FreshLeaf will invest in structured training and skills development programmes for all employees, with a particular focus on developing technical hydroponic farming skills, food safety and quality management competencies, and supervisory and management capabilities among previously disadvantaged individuals. The Company will allocate a minimum of 3% of annual payroll to structured training and development initiatives.

12.3 Environmental Sustainability

The Company’s environmental sustainability credentials are anchored in the inherent resource efficiency of hydroponic farming technology. Key environmental benefits include: 90% reduction in water consumption compared to conventional agriculture, elimination of soil degradation and erosion, significant reduction in chemical pesticide and herbicide usage through IPM, reduced carbon footprint through solar energy generation and efficient logistics, and minimisation of food waste through controlled production planning matched to confirmed orders.
