Products & Services
GoldenNest Poultry Farms will offer a diversified range of egg products to serve multiple market segments:
5.1 Product Portfolio
GoldenNest Poultry Farms will offer a diversified range of egg products to serve multiple market segments:
5.1.1 Conventional Table Eggs
Standard large and medium-grade eggs produced from conventional cage and enriched colony systems. These will constitute the core product line, targeting price-sensitive retail and wholesale customers. Eggs will be graded in accordance with the South African Agricultural Product Standards Act (Act 119 of 1990) and APS Regulations for Eggs.
5.1.2 Free-Range Eggs
Premium eggs from hens with access to outdoor range areas, produced in accordance with the SAPA (South African Poultry Association) Free-Range Standards. These products will target health-conscious and ethically motivated consumers willing to pay a 30–50% price premium.
5.1.3 Branded Packaged Eggs
Eggs will be packaged under the GoldenNest brand in 6-pack, 12-pack, and 30-tray formats for retail sale. Packaging will feature the Company’s branding, traceability codes, and production date information.
5.1.4 Private-Label and Co-Branded Eggs
The Company will offer private-label packaging services for major retailers seeking to market eggs under their own house brands. This arrangement provides access to high-volume, consistent retail shelf space.
5.1.5 Bulk and Institutional Supply
Unbranded or minimally branded eggs supplied in bulk 30-tray and 60-tray formats to restaurants, hotels, bakeries, catering companies, and food manufacturers (e.g., mayonnaise, pasta, and baked goods producers).
5.2 Secondary Revenue Streams
-
Spent Hens: At end-of-lay cycle (approximately 72–80 weeks of age), spent hens will be sold to live poultry markets and processors. Estimated revenue: R15–R25 per bird.
-
Poultry Manure: Composted chicken manure will be sold to crop farmers and garden centres as organic fertiliser. Estimated revenue: R300–R500 per tonne.
-
Empty Feed Bags and Packaging Waste: Recycled or sold to recycling depots.
5.3 Quality Assurance and Food Safety
All products will be produced, graded, and packaged in compliance with:
-
South African National Standards (SANS 885) for egg grading
-
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety management system
-
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
-
South African Poultry Association (SAPA) production and welfare standards
-
Consumer Protection Act (CPA) labelling and traceability requirements
The Company will pursue FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) within the first two years of operations to support applications for supply contracts with major retailers.
