Sustainability, Environment & Community
Master Goat Farming is directly aligned with several of South Africa's key policy and development frameworks:
13.1 Environmental Sustainability
-
Rotational grazing across six camps with minimum 45-day rest periods — prevents overgrazing and land degradation.
-
Borehole water conservation: water-efficient nipple drinkers in all camps; no open-trough wastage. Annual water audit.
-
Invasive species management: ongoing clearing of invasive Lantana camara and Chromolaena odorata from grazing camps.
-
Manure management: composted goat manure sold or applied to home garden plots — zero waste policy.
-
Solar-powered electric fencing energisers and water pump — reducing diesel generator dependence from Year 2.
13.2 Community & Social Impact
| Impact Area | Commitment |
| Job Creation | Create 6 direct jobs in Year 1, growing to 13–15 by Year 5. All positions filled from within the local community. |
| Skills Development | Annual SETA-accredited training for farm workers (AgriSETA Level 2 livestock production). Mentorship of 2 neighbouring smallholder farmers annually. |
| Youth & Women in Agriculture | Prioritise hiring of youth (under 35) and women. Partner with NARYSEC for placement of rural youth in farm apprenticeships. |
| SMME Procurement | Source fencing, feed, veterinary products, and transport from local SMMEs first. Target: 60% of procurement from local businesses. |
| Food Security | Annual donation of 10 breeding does to community livestock programme managed by local traditional authority. |
13.3 Alignment with National Development Goals
