2.1 Legal Structure and Registration
SafeRide Insurance Solutions (Pty) Ltd will be registered as a private company under the Companies Act 71 of 2008 with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). The company will apply for a short-term insurance licence under the Insurance Act 18 of 2017, regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and the Prudential Authority (PA) of the South African Reserve Bank.
The company will operate as a licensed non-life insurer, underwriting motor vehicle insurance products directly. SafeRide will also register as a Financial Services Provider (FSP) under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act to enable direct-to-consumer distribution.

Thabo Mbeki – Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Thabo brings 18 years of experience in the South African insurance industry, having served as a Senior Executive at a leading short-term insurer. His expertise spans risk management, underwriting strategy, product development, and regulatory engagement. Thabo holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA).
Lerato Dlamini – Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer
Lerato is an operations specialist with 14 years of experience in insurance claims processing, customer experience management, and operational excellence. She previously served as Head of Claims Operations at a Tier 1 South African insurer, overseeing a team of 120 claims assessors processing over 50,000 claims per annum. Lerato holds a B.Com (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Pretoria.
Pieter van Rooyen – Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer
Pieter is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) with 16 years of experience in insurance finance, capital management, and regulatory compliance. He previously held the position of Financial Director at a niche motor insurer and has extensive experience in IFRS 17 implementation, Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) reporting, and capital adequacy management. Pieter is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
