13.1 Job Creation
DriveHub will create direct employment for 85 individuals by Year 5, with a strong focus on previously disadvantaged individuals and youth employment. The technology-intensive nature of the roles provides high-value employment opportunities in software engineering, data science, and digital marketing – skills that are in high demand in South Africa’s digital economy. Additionally, the platform’s success indirectly supports employment across the automotive value chain, including dealership staff, vehicle inspection technicians, and financial services personnel.
13.2 Support for Emerging Dealers
DriveHub’s Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme provides subsidised platform access, digital marketing training, and business mentorship to at least 10 emerging black-owned dealerships annually. This programme directly contributes to the transformation of the automotive retail sector by enabling small and township-based dealers to compete effectively in the digital marketplace alongside established multi-franchise groups.
13.3 Fraud Reduction
By implementing robust vehicle verification, seller authentication, and transaction monitoring systems, DriveHub contributes to reducing the estimated R3–4 billion annual cost of vehicle fraud in South Africa. The platform’s trust and safety infrastructure protects consumers from cloned vehicles, odometer tampering, and misrepresented vehicle conditions, building overall confidence in the used vehicle market.
13.4 Digital Inclusion
DriveHub’s mobile-first design and multilingual support (English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, and Sesotho) ensure the platform is accessible to the broadest possible segment of the South African population. The platform’s low-data-consumption design is optimised for users on prepaid mobile data plans, recognising that data affordability remains a significant barrier to digital participation in South Africa.
13.5 Environmental Consideration
By facilitating more efficient matching between vehicle buyers and sellers, DriveHub reduces the number of unnecessary physical dealership visits, contributing to lower transport-related carbon emissions. The platform’s future EV specialisation will actively promote electric vehicle adoption and support South Africa’s transition towards lower-emission transportation.
