14.1 Job Creation

GoldenNest will create 33 direct permanent positions at commencement, expanding to approximately 80 positions by Year 5. In addition, the Company’s activities will support an estimated 100–150 indirect jobs across the value chain, including feed suppliers, transport operators, packaging manufacturers, and informal market distributors.

14.2 Skills Development

The Company will invest a minimum of 2% of annual payroll in employee training and skills development, in compliance with the Skills Development Act. Training programmes will include poultry husbandry, food safety handling, equipment operation, and supervisory skills. The Company will also participate in internship and learnership programmes in partnership with agricultural colleges and SETA-accredited training providers.

14.3 Enterprise and Supplier Development

In support of B-BBEE and Agri-BEE commitments, GoldenNest will implement enterprise development programmes to support small-scale poultry farmers and emerging agricultural enterprises. Initiatives will include mentorship programmes, preferential procurement from Black-owned suppliers, and technical assistance for small-scale egg producers.

14.4 Food Security Contribution

Eggs are one of the most affordable and nutritionally complete protein sources available to South African consumers. By producing approximately 28.8 million eggs per year at full capacity, GoldenNest will make a meaningful contribution to food security in Gauteng and beyond, providing an affordable protein source to households across all income levels.

14.5 Environmental Stewardship

The Company is committed to minimising its environmental footprint through:

  • Water recycling systems reducing freshwater consumption by an estimated 30%

  • Composting of poultry manure to produce organic fertiliser, diverting waste from landfill

  • Solar PV installation to offset a portion of grid electricity consumption

  • Responsible effluent management in compliance with water use licence conditions
