Growth Strategy & Expansion Plan

Focus on establishing the 400-cow breeding herd, completing infrastructure, building feedlot and abattoir relationships, and achieving the first full weaner calf crop. Heifers retained to grow the herd to 480 cows by end of Year 2.

17.1 Phase 1 – Establishment (Years 1–2)

Focus on establishing the 400-cow breeding herd, completing infrastructure, building feedlot and abattoir relationships, and achieving the first full weaner calf crop. Heifers retained to grow the herd to 480 cows by end of Year 2.

17.2 Phase 2 – Scale and Diversification (Years 3–4)

Scale the breeding herd to 720 cows through retained heifers and selective purchases. Launch the finished cattle programme (on-farm finishing for direct abattoir supply at premium prices). Introduce the Ironveld Heritage Beef branded product for premium retail and hospitality markets. Commence annual on-farm breeding stock production sale. Target revenue of R16.2 million by Year 4.

17.3 Phase 3 – Expansion (Year 5+)

Achieve target herd of 880+ cows and 1,360 total head. Evaluate acquisition of additional grazing land (purchase or lease) to support further expansion to 1,500+ breeding cows. Explore vertical integration opportunities including a small-scale abattoir or contract slaughter arrangement. Investigate export market access for premium South African beef. Long-term target: 1,500-cow breeding operation generating R30+ million annual revenue.
