14.1 Employment Creation

Karoo Prime Lamb Farms will create sustainable employment for at least 25 permanent staff members, drawn primarily from the Graaff-Reinet and surrounding communities. All employees will be remunerated at or above the agricultural minimum wage, with additional benefits including on-farm housing for key workers, annual performance bonuses, and access to skills development training.

14.2 Skills Development and Training

The company is committed to investing in the development of its workforce through:

• Formal learnerships and apprenticeships registered with the AgriSETA.

• On-the-job training in livestock handling, animal health, and pasture management.

• Financial literacy and life skills programmes for farm workers.

• Support for emerging farmer development in partnership with the Department of Agriculture.

14.3 Environmental Stewardship

The farming operation will be conducted in accordance with sustainable environmental management principles:

• Implementation of a formal grazing management plan to prevent veld degradation.

• Alien vegetation clearing programme in partnership with the Working for Water programme.

• Water conservation measures including solar-powered boreholes and efficient distribution systems.

• Biodiversity monitoring and conservation of indigenous flora and fauna on the property.

• Adherence to the Karoo Meat of Origin environmental sustainability requirements.
