Job Creation and Skills Development
SafeHome will create 22 direct jobs in Year 1, growing to 56 by Year 5. The company prioritises the recruitment of previously disadvantaged individuals and will allocate a minimum of 3% of annual payroll to accredited skills development programmes. The technician training programme provides a nationally recognised qualification pathway, enabling junior technicians to progress to senior roles and supervisory positions. SafeHome will also offer a learnership programme in partnership with a SETA-accredited training provider, creating opportunities for 4–6 learners per annum from Year 2.
Environmental Stewardship
The company’s Integrated Pest Management approach minimises the use of synthetic chemicals by prioritising biological controls, habitat modification, and targeted treatments. SafeHome commits to using only DALRRD-registered, low-toxicity products with minimal environmental persistence, implementing responsible chemical waste disposal through licensed hazardous waste contractors, reducing vehicle emissions through efficient route planning and the phased introduction of fuel-efficient vehicles, minimising paper usage through digital reporting and compliance documentation, and tracking and reporting its carbon footprint from Year 2.
Community Engagement
SafeHome will allocate 1% of net profit after tax to community development initiatives in the Cape Town metropolitan area, with a focus on public health education in underserved communities (pest prevention workshops, mosquito-borne disease awareness), sponsorship of local school and community sports teams, participation in community clean-up and environmental programmes, and pro bono pest control services for registered non-profit organisations and community facilities. The company aims to deliver a minimum of 40 hours of community engagement per quarter from Year 1.
