16.1 Environmental Sustainability
VinoVista Estates is committed to operating as a responsible steward of the Stellenbosch terroir. Water management: Drip irrigation with soil moisture monitoring to minimise water usage. Rainwater harvesting and grey water recycling to reduce municipal dependency. Target: reduce water consumption per tonne of grapes to below 4,000 m³/ha.

Energy: 200 kW rooftop solar PV installation on winery buildings to reduce grid dependency by 60–70%. Electric vehicle fleet for on-farm operations by Year 4.

Waste: Pomace composting for vineyard soil amendment. Glass, cardboard, and plastic recycling programme. Zero-waste-to-landfill target by Year 5.

Biodiversity: 20 hectares reserved for indigenous fynbos conservation. Raptor perches and owl boxes for natural rodent control. Pollinator habitat corridors between vineyard blocks.

Certifications: IPW certification from Year 2. WIETA ethical trade accreditation. Organic conversion programme for 30 hectares (5-year transition).
16.2 BEE & Transformation
VinoVista Estates will achieve Level 2 BEE status through a comprehensive transformation programme:

Ownership: 10% equity held by a community BEE Trust benefiting estate workers and the local Stellenbosch community. 20% equity held by Thabo Mokoena (Black South African founder).

Management: 50% of senior management positions held by historically disadvantaged individuals.

Skills development: Annual training spend of 3% of payroll. Learnerships in viticulture, winemaking, and hospitality in partnership with Elsenburg College.

Enterprise development: Mentorship and preferential procurement from local Black-owned suppliers for transport, catering, and maintenance services.

Socio-economic development: 1% of net profit allocated to community projects including a local school bursary fund and sports development programme.
