9.2 Training & Development

AquaHarvest will invest in a comprehensive skills development programme aligned with the National Skills Development Strategy and Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA) requirements:

  • Internal aquaculture training academy with structured learnerships (NQF Level 2–4)

  • Partnership with the University of Limpopo and Stellenbosch University for applied research and internship placements

  • Annual training budget of R300,000–R500,000 (approximately 1.5% of payroll, exceeding the 1% Skills Development Levy requirement)

  • Succession planning for all critical technical and management positions

9.3 Employment Equity & B-BBEE

The Company is committed to achieving a minimum Level 2 B-BBEE contributor status within the first two years of operation. Key B-BBEE scorecard elements include:

  • Ownership: 65% black ownership (including Employee Trust)

  • Management Control: 67% black representation at senior management level

  • Skills Development: AgriSETA-accredited learnerships and bursary programme

  • Enterprise & Supplier Development: Preferential procurement from B-BBEE compliant suppliers; establishment of a smallholder farmer support programme
