Company Overview, Vision & Mission
The corporate identity, the vision and mission, the strategic objectives, the core values and the legal structure and ownership underpinning BuildCore Retail Group.
2.1 Vision
| To become Southern Africa’s leading affordable building materials and construction retail platform — the first choice for every builder, contractor and homeowner seeking quality materials at the best value. |
2.2 Mission
To provide accessible, affordable and reliable construction products
and home-improvement solutions to emerging and mass-market consumers
across South Africa, delivered through an efficient store network, a
responsive supply chain and a customer experience that respects the time
and budget of every buyer — from the informal builder purchasing a
single bag of cement to the contractor procuring a full project bill of
materials.
2.3 Strategic Objectives
- Establish a profitable, cash-generative cluster of stores in
high-density Gauteng catchments within the first 12 months of
trading. - Build a scalable distribution and procurement backbone that
supports a national footprint while protecting gross margin. - Reach a network of 84 trading outlets across five provinces by
the end of Year 5. - Develop a differentiated private-label range and
contractor-credit programme to lift blended margins and customer
loyalty. - Position the Group for regional (SADC) expansion and a
value-accretive investor exit from Year 5 onward.
2.4 Core Values
- Value for money — relentless focus on
affordability and price leadership for the mass market. - Operational discipline — lean cost structures,
tight inventory control and high asset productivity. - Customer proximity — stores located where
underserved customers actually live and build. - Integrity & governance — transparent dealing
with customers, suppliers, employees and capital providers. - Inclusive growth — job creation, SME contractor
enablement and local economic development.
2.5 Legal Structure & Ownership
BuildCore Retail Group will be incorporated as a private company
(Pty) Ltd under the South African Companies Act, 2008, with a holding
company owning the operating subsidiaries responsible for retail
operations, distribution and logistics, and property. The proposed
capital structure introduces institutional equity alongside founder and
management equity, with a senior secured debt facility provided by one
or more commercial lenders or development finance institutions. A
broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) ownership component will
be incorporated to support the Group’s procurement competitiveness and
developmental mandate.
