ESG & Development Impact
The ESG and development-impact framework — the social impact, the environmental strategy and the governance approach underpinning the platform.
14.1 Social Impact
BuildCore’s model is inherently developmental. By making affordable
building materials accessible in underserved township and rural
catchments, the Group supports incremental housing delivery, enables SME
contractor growth, and creates direct and indirect employment. The plan
supports a workforce scaling toward roughly 2,500 employees by Year 5,
with structured training and advancement pathways.
- Improved access to affordable construction materials for the gap
and informal-build market. - Enablement of small and medium contractors through credit,
training and reliable supply. - Rural and township retail development and local economic
activity. - Direct employment creation and skills development.
14.2 Environmental Strategy
- Energy — solar-powered stores and
energy-efficient warehousing to reduce grid dependence and
cost. - Sourcing — responsibly sourced timber and growth
of lower-footprint and recycled-content products. - Logistics — route optimisation to reduce fuel
consumption and emissions. - Waste — packaging and material recycling
programmes across the network.
14.3 Governance
As set out in Section 10, BuildCore adopts King IV-aligned governance
with independent board oversight, enterprise risk management, internal
audit and supply-chain compliance. A Social & Ethics Committee
oversees the Group’s developmental, transformation and environmental
commitments, providing the assurance framework expected by development
finance institutions and institutional investors.
