This status provides meaningful competitive advantages: access to government and SOE procurement opportunities, supplier development funding from major beverage producers (SAB, Distell, Heineken all have substantial enterprise and supplier development budgets directed at B-BBEE-compliant retailers), and preferential access to DFI funding programmes.

The business will maintain its B-BBEE status through annual verification by an accredited B-BBEE verification agency, with scores optimised across the ownership, management control, skills development, enterprise development, and socio-economic development elements of the scorecard.
