Sustainability and Social Impact

FireStone is committed to minimising its environmental footprint through several initiatives: sourcing wood for the oven from sustainable plantation sources with FSC certification or equivalent, using biodegradable and compostable packaging for all takeaway and delivery orders, implementing a comprehensive waste segregation programme…

17.1 Environmental Sustainability

FireStone is committed to minimising its environmental footprint through several initiatives: sourcing wood for the oven from sustainable plantation sources with FSC certification or equivalent, using biodegradable and compostable packaging for all takeaway and delivery orders, implementing a comprehensive waste segregation programme targeting a 50 percent waste diversion rate from landfill within Year 1, water conservation through low-flow fixtures and a greywater recycling system for non-potable uses, energy efficiency through LED lighting, energy-rated appliances, and the future exploration of rooftop solar installation.

17.2 Community Impact

The business will contribute to community development through direct job creation of 18 positions at the flagship outlet, expanding to approximately 100 across five outlets by Year 5. A youth employment programme will allocate 30 percent of entry-level positions to candidates under 25, supported by structured learnerships. Local supplier development will prioritise small-scale farmers and emerging food producers in the supply chain. Community engagement will include sponsorship of local food festivals, school nutrition education programmes, and partnerships with food rescue organisations to redirect surplus food.
