Operations & Maintenance Plan
The O&M strategy, performance monitoring approach and the operating cost structure sustaining long-term plant availability and yield.
7.1 O&M Strategy
The project’s operational phase will be managed under a comprehensive
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreement with an
international-calibre O&M contractor with a proven track record in
South African solar installations. The O&M contract will be
structured as a fixed-price, availability-guaranteed agreement with key
performance indicators (KPIs) including minimum system availability of
98%, guaranteed performance ratio, maximum response times for fault
rectification, and liquidated damages for underperformance. The O&M
provider will maintain a permanent on-site presence with qualified
technicians, supported by a regional operations centre for remote
monitoring and diagnostics.
7.2 Performance Monitoring
The plant’s performance will be continuously monitored through a
comprehensive SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system
integrated with advanced data analytics and AI-powered predictive
maintenance algorithms. Key monitoring parameters include real-time
energy generation at inverter and string level, solar irradiation and
weather data from multiple on-site sensors, tracker system performance
and alignment accuracy, inverter efficiency and fault diagnostics, grid
interface parameters (voltage, frequency, power factor), and equipment
health indicators for preventive maintenance scheduling.
