Export Strategy
The target markets, the accreditation pathway and the currency and trade risk underpinning the export strategy.
Export is the principal long-term margin and scale driver. Accredited
South African halaal goat meat can access GCC markets where goat and
mutton are culturally preferred and command premium prices, as well as
regional SADC markets with structural protein deficits.
15.1 Target markets
Priority destinations are selected on the basis of halaal demand
pull, price levels, accessibility and trade relationships. The GCC — led
by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait — represents
the premium opportunity, while Mauritius and regional SADC markets such
as the DRC offer accessible volume.
15.2 Accreditation pathway
Export requires veterinary health accreditation, halaal certification
recognised in the destination market, plant approval and compliance with
each importing country’s protocols. The Company sequences accreditation
market-by-market, beginning with the most accessible high-value
destinations, and builds the documentary and traceability infrastructure
required to satisfy importing-country authorities.
15.3 Currency and trade risk
Export revenue introduces foreign-currency exposure. The Company will
manage this through a combination of forward cover on contracted export
receivables and natural hedging, and will diversify across multiple
destinations to reduce single-market concentration risk.
