Products & Services
The product and service suite across life, health, short-term insurance and financial services, and the value proposition for each customer segment.
7.1 Product Portfolio Overview
The Company’s product portfolio is organised into four pillars:
Insure, Live Well, Bank, and Invest. Each pillar contains multiple
products that share a common platform, common rewards engine, and a
common customer identity, allowing the customer to move fluidly across
products as life circumstances change.
| Pillar | Products at Launch (Yr 1) | Year-2 Additions | Year-3+ Additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insure | Vitalis Health Lite, Vitalis Life Standard, Vitalis Motor | Vitalis Home, Vitalis Disability, Vitalis Critical Illness | Vitalis Business, Vitalis Travel, Vitalis Cyber |
| Live Well | Vitalis Wellness, Drive Smart, Rewards Marketplace | Family Wellness, Mental Health Hub | Corporate Wellness |
| Bank | (none at launch) | Vitalis Account, Vitalis Card | Vitalis Credit, Vitalis Home Loan |
| Invest | (none at launch) | Vitalis Tax-Free Savings, Money Market | Vitalis Retirement Annuity, Living Annuity, Offshore |
7.2 Insure Pillar — Detailed Products
7.2.1 Vitalis Health Insurance
Vitalis Health is structured as a primary-care health insurance
product within the demarcation framework, rather than as a registered
medical scheme. The product is paired with a gap-cover overlay and a
hospital benefit network. The architecture is deliberately lower-cost
than a full medical scheme, targeting the substantial under-served
population unable to afford traditional schemes.
- Tier 1 (Lite): R450/month — primary care, basic
hospitalisation network, screening, telemedicine. - Tier 2 (Standard): R850/month — broader
specialist network, generic chronic medication formulary, dentistry and
optometry. - Tier 3 (Comprehensive): R1,650/month — full
specialist access, mental health, comprehensive chronic medication,
international cover up to R2M. - Critical differentiation: Every tier integrates
the Vitalis Wellness programme, with premium discounts of up to 25% for
active members.
7.2.2 Vitalis Life Insurance
A modular life-insurance product covering death, disability, critical
illness and funeral benefits. Behavioural underwriting allows
entry-level customers to commence cover with a simplified questionnaire
and progress to lower pricing tiers as wellness data accumulates over
18–24 months.
7.2.3 Vitalis Motor Insurance
A pay-how-you-drive motor product priced dynamically on
telematics-derived behaviour. Standard SASRIA cover is included. The
product features a no-claims accelerator and cash-back fuel rewards.
7.2.4 Vitalis Home Insurance (Year 2)
A buildings and contents product with smart-home device integration.
Customers fitting compliant alarm, leak-detection and surge-protection
devices qualify for premium discounts of up to 30%.
7.3 Live Well Pillar
Vitalis Live Well is the engagement and rewards engine that
operationalises the shared-value model. It comprises a mobile-first
application, a partner ecosystem and a points-based rewards currency.
Members earn points for each verifiable behaviour and redeem them for
tangible benefits.
| Earning Activity | Points Earned | Partner Ecosystem |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 daily steps (wearable verified) | 50 points/day | Garmin, Fitbit, Apple Health, Samsung Health |
| Annual health screening | 2,000 points | Vitalis Wellness Centres, Dis-Chem, Clicks |
| Safe driving week (telematics) | 300 points/week | Self-monitored or device-based |
| Healthy food purchase (linked card) | 5% cashback as points | Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Checkers Sixty60 |
| Gym visit (verified) | 100 points/visit | Virgin Active, Planet Fitness, Run/Walk For Life |
| Savings goal achieved | 1,000 points | Vitalis Bank (from Yr 2) |
7.4 Bank and Invest Pillars
From the start of Year 2, Vitalis will deliver banking and investment
products under its Tier 2 banking licence. The banking product is
deliberately lean — a digital-first transactional account, a payment
card and a savings vehicle — to compete on cost and integration with
insurance rather than on full-service branch banking.
Investment products are delivered through a licensed Category I
Financial Services Provider and managed in association with a top-tier
South African asset manager (planned partnership under negotiation). The
product set focuses on tax-free savings, retirement annuities and unit
trusts, with offshore funds added in Year 3.
