Operational Plan

Of dryland arable farmland (inclusive of leased parcels) over five years, at a stabilised yield of 4.0 t/ha.
5.1 Location and Land
The farm will be situated in the Moorreesburg district within the Swartland Local Municipality, approximately 110 kilometres north of Cape Town along the N7 national route. The Swartland region is widely recognised as the heartland of Western Cape wheat production, characterised by its gently undulating topography, deep alluvial soils, and reliable Mediterranean winter rainfall pattern (approximately 350–500 mm annually during the wheat growing season of May to November).
The Company has identified an initial acquisition target of 1,200 hectares of contiguous dryland arable land, with scope to lease an additional 800 hectares from adjacent landowners by Year 3. The property is served by established gravel farm roads, grain storage silos within 15 kilometres, and is within the logistics catchment of the Saldanha Bay port and rail corridor.
5.2 Crop Programme
| Parameter | Detail |
| Primary Crop | Hard bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) – milling-grade cultivars |
| Rotation Crop | Canola and medic/clover pasture (for nitrogen fixation and soil health) |
| Planting Window | Late April to mid-June (winter crop cycle) |
| Harvest Window | Late October to early December |
| Target Yield (stabilised) | 4.0–4.5 tonnes per hectare (dryland) |
| Rotation Cycle | Wheat – Canola – Wheat – Pasture (4-year rotation) |
| Seed Varieties | SST 056, SST 096, PAN 3400 (adapted for Swartland conditions) |
5.3 Precision Agriculture and Mechanisation
The Company will deploy a precision agriculture strategy from inception, integrating GPS-guided autosteer tractors, variable-rate seeding and fertiliser application, drone-based crop scouting, and soil moisture monitoring networks. Key machinery requirements include two 300+ horsepower tractors, a 12-metre no-till air seeder, a self-propelled combine harvester with yield mapping, a boom sprayer, and grain transport vehicles.
The total mechanisation capital budget is estimated at ZAR 28.5 million (detailed in Section 7), with provision for second-hand acquisition of selected units where condition assessments are favourable. A fleet replacement and maintenance schedule will be implemented from Year 1, targeting an average fleet utilisation rate of 85 per cent during peak operational windows.
5.4 Input Management
Fertiliser, seed, and crop protection inputs represent the largest variable cost category. The Company will establish procurement agreements with at least two input suppliers to mitigate supply risk and negotiate volume-based pricing. Fertiliser application will be guided by annual soil analyses and variable-rate prescription maps. Integrated pest management (IPM) principles will govern crop protection strategy, with fungicide and herbicide applications calibrated to field-specific pest and weed pressure data.
5.5 Grain Marketing and Offtake
The marketing strategy will combine forward hedging on SAFEX with direct-delivery contracts to Western Cape millers. The Company targets a blended marketing approach, with approximately 40 per cent of expected production hedged forward pre-harvest, 30 per cent sold on spot at harvest, and 30 per cent stored for later delivery when basis spreads are favourable. On-farm storage capacity of 3,000 tonnes will be developed by Year 2 to support this strategy.
