Organisational structure

The organisation is structured around the three founder-directors and the functions a capital-intensive service business requires. The MD & CEO leads commercial strategy and business development; the Finance Director leads finance, budgeting, controls and reporting; the Operations Director leads facilities, logistics and service delivery. Reporting to the Operations Director are the operations manager, laundry supervisors, attendants, drivers, customer-service representatives and cleaning staff, eighteen employees at launch, growing to over thirty by Year 5. A branch and operations layer is developed as the flagship matures, providing the management depth required to support multi-site expansion. This structure keeps decision-making accountable while building the capability to scale.

Governance and controls

  • Clear division of responsibilities across commercial (CEO), financial (FD) and operational (Ops Director) leadership, with joint board accountability for performance and capital discipline.
  • A Chartered-Accountant-led finance function providing disciplined budgeting, management accounts, cash and capex control, and covenant and tax compliance, a genuine strength for a capital-intensive business.
  • Operational controls, utilisation and throughput tracking, quality control, equipment maintenance schedules, and commercial-contract and credit management.
  • Transparent reporting to lenders and investors, monthly management accounts and key operating metrics (utilisation, revenue by stream, margins, contracts, DSCR) against plan.

Key-person and capability considerations

The founding team’s balance of commercial, financial and operational capability is a significant strength, few small businesses launch with a CEO, a Chartered Accountant Finance Director and an operations specialist. The main governance considerations are the usual ones for an owner-led company: retaining and, over time, deepening the management team below the founders (a capable branch and operations layer to support multi-site expansion), documenting systems and procedures, maintaining appropriate insurance, and planning for continuity. Institutionalising the founders’ capability into repeatable systems is both a governance safeguard and the prerequisite for the multi-site expansion the plan envisages.
