Business Model & Operating Divisions

The business model across the farming, packing and cold-storage, export-marketing, cold-chain logistics, processing and value-add, and community and empowerment divisions.

Kalahari Crown Exports operates through six integrated divisions that
together convert land and water into branded, export-grade fruit
delivered to international retailers. Integration across these divisions
is the core source of margin, quality control and supply
reliability.

5.1 Farming Division

The farming division owns and leases orchards and vineyards across
the Northern Cape, Western Cape and Limpopo, matching each crop to its
optimal climate to maximise quality, yield and export competitiveness.
The crop-to-region allocation is summarised below.

Crop Primary region Target market Strategic rationale
Table grapes Northern Cape Europe & UK Earliest harvest; counter-seasonal premium
Citrus N. Cape & Limpopo Middle East & EU Largest export category; soft-citrus demand
Dates Northern Cape Premium retail High value; arid-climate suitability
Apples Western Cape Export retailers SH export leadership; new Asian access
Cherries Western Cape High-margin export Premium pricing; short supply window
Pecans Northern Cape Snack processors Growing nut demand; storable
Watermelon Northern Cape Regional markets Fast cash cycle; rotational crop

5.2 Packing & Cold Storage Division

The Company will establish automated packing facilities, cold-storage
depots and export-consolidation hubs. Services include fruit grading,
sorting, packaging, palletisation, cold treatment and quality assurance.
Integrated packing and cooling are essential to preserving product
quality through long export journeys and to meeting the cold-chain and
phytosanitary requirements of premium markets.

5.3 Export Marketing Division

The export marketing division coordinates seasonal planning,
international retailer negotiations, supply contracts, branding and
logistics. The Company will establish strategic distributor partnerships
and, over time, international sales presence in key markets.

Region Lead products Channel strategy
European Union Grapes, citrus, apples Anchor retail programmes via Rotterdam hub
United Kingdom Premium grapes & cherries Branded premium retail supply
Middle East Dates & citrus Distributor partnerships; premium positioning
China Grapes & cherries New-access protocols; e-commerce premium
India Citrus & pears Volume soft-citrus and pear growth
Southern Africa Watermelon & mixed Regional logistics & fast cash cycle

5.4 Cold-Chain Logistics Division

A dedicated cold-chain logistics capability — refrigerated transport,
reefer-container coordination and multi-port routing — protects product
integrity and mitigates the port-efficiency risks discussed in Section
3.6. This division also generates third-party logistics and cold-storage
rental income.

5.5 Processing & Value-Add Division

Out-grade and surplus fruit is converted into juice-grade product,
dried fruit (notably dates and raisins) and other by-products, lifting
overall fruit utilisation, reducing waste and adding a counter-cyclical
revenue stream that is less exposed to fresh-market price
volatility.

5.6 Community & Empowerment Division

The Company will implement worker share-ownership schemes,
agricultural training programmes, rural housing initiatives, scholarship
funds and youth agriculture academies. Beyond their social value, these
programmes strengthen the Company’s B-BBEE profile, support its social
licence to operate and align it with development-finance mandates.
