R350 Grant 2026: How to Apply for the R370 SASSA SRD Grant, Check Your Status & Appeal

Step 1Open the official site

Go to srd.sassa.gov.za. You will see two yellow buttons. Choose South African ID Holders, or Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders if that is you.

The application form is officially called the SC19. If you see that name, you are in the right place.

Step 2Accept the declaration and consent

Read it, then accept. You are giving SASSA permission to check your details against Home Affairs, SARS, UIF, NSFAS, government payroll and your bank.

This consent is what makes the grant work without paperwork. If you withdraw it later, your application stops.

Step 3Verify your cellphone number

Enter your number. SASSA sends a one-time PIN by SMS. Type it in before it expires — you only get a few minutes.

Step 4Enter your personal details

Full name, ID number, date of birth, gender, address. Copy your name letter for letter from your ID — including middle names, hyphens and spacing.

Step 5Answer the income and lifestyle questions

You will be asked whether you have income, who supports you, and how you survive month to month. Answer honestly.

SASSA checks your answers against your actual bank records. A false answer is fraud, and it removes your right to appeal.

Step 6Choose how you get paid

Two options:

• Your own bank account — fastest, no queue, but it must be in your name.
• Cash collection at a retail till — Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer or Spar. You get an SMS when the money is ready.

You can add or change banking details later on the same site. Do it there — never over the phone to someone who called you.

Step 7Submit and save your reference

Check every field, then submit. A reference number appears on screen. Screenshot it.
