Strategic Vision, Mission & Investment Thesis

The vision and mission and the investment thesis underpinning ReclaimHub.

Vision

To become Africa’s most trusted circular-economy retail and
asset-recovery network.

Mission

To provide affordable goods and accessible liquidity to consumers
through a transparent, technology-enabled retail and secured-lending
ecosystem.

4.1 Investment thesis

The thesis rests on four propositions, each tested independently in
this plan:

  • The category is structurally growing and
    defensive.
Cost-of-living pressure, high new-goods prices, and
household liquidity constraints all expand demand for both second-hand
goods and secured short-term credit — and do so most strongly in
    downturns.
  • Integration compounds margin. Owning intake,
refurbishment, retail and lending in one store captures value at each
step: goods bought cheaply are refurbished, resold at markup, or lent
against — and unredeemed collateral re-enters the retail
    funnel.
  • Technology is the differentiator. A
standardised, data-driven valuation engine reduces intake mispricing and
credit loss — the two failure modes of informal pawn operators — and is
    the basis for franchise scalability.
  • The model has a proven local ceiling far above entry
    scale.
A domestic competitor operating 200–250+ stores
demonstrates that the addressable network is large; the question is
execution velocity and funding, not market existence.
The thesis is sound; the risk is execution and funding,
not demand

Independent analysis does not dispute the demand thesis — it is well
supported. It relocates the risk to three executable problems: securing
a R2.85bn loan-book warehouse facility, structuring debt service around
a two-year loss ramp, and building stores at a pace of roughly 66 per
year. Each is addressed structurally in this plan.
