The cultivation site is located on a farm portion near Tzaneen, in the Mopani District Municipality of Limpopo Province. Tzaneen is one of South Africa’s most productive subtropical agricultural regions, renowned for citrus, avocado, macadamia, and mango production. The area offers several compelling advantages for hemp cultivation.

7.2 Climate and Growing Conditions

Tzaneen’s subtropical climate is characterised by warm to hot summers (October–March) with mean daily temperatures of 25–30°C, mild winters with minimal frost risk, annual rainfall of 800–1,200mm (concentrated in the summer growing season), and rich, well-drained alluvial soils with high organic matter content. These conditions are highly favourable for hemp cultivation, supporting two potential growing cycles per annum and high biomass yield per hectare.

7.3 Infrastructure and Logistics

• Road access: The farm is accessible via the R71 and N1 national routes, providing direct connectivity to Polokwane (100km) and Johannesburg (450km).

• Water supply: The site benefits from proximity to the Tzaneen Dam and the Greater Letaba Water Management Area, with established irrigation canal infrastructure.

• Agricultural support services: The Tzaneen area has a well-established network of agricultural input suppliers, extension services, and mechanisation contractors.

• Labour availability: The region has a large agricultural labour force with relevant skills in crop cultivation, harvesting, and primary processing.
