16.1 Employment Creation
The flagship restaurant will directly employ 25 staff members (15 full-time and 10 part-time), with an emphasis on recruiting from the local community, particularly unemployed youth. The Company commits to paying above the statutory minimum wage in the hospitality sector and providing a safe, dignified working environment. Indirect employment creation through the supply chain is estimated at an additional 10–15 jobs.
16.2 Skills Development
All employees will receive structured training in food safety and hygiene (accredited certification), customer service excellence, basic financial literacy, and fire and emergency response. The Company will also participate in learnership programmes through the relevant SETA (Services SETA), contributing to youth employability in the hospitality sector.
16.3 Local Procurement
A minimum of 80% of the Company’s procurement spend will be directed to local and provincial suppliers, supporting Mpumalanga’s agricultural sector (poultry farms, vegetable growers) and small businesses (packaging, cleaning supplies, uniforms). This commitment aligns with both B-BBEE requirements and the Company’s values of community-mindedness.
16.4 Community Engagement
The Company will allocate 1% of annual net profit to community initiatives including school feeding scheme contributions, sponsorship of local youth sports teams, participation in Mandela Day and other national days of service, and partnerships with local NGOs focused on food security and youth development.
