ESG, Sustainability & Community

Sustainability is a stated corporate value, and the business model offers genuine environmental and social opportunities alongside its commercial goals.

Social

  • Direct employment of roughly 60 people in Year 1 rising with the rollout, with meaningful youth-employment opportunity in retail and production, plus franchise ownership as an enterprise-development pathway.
  • School partnerships, community activations and support for local events that build brand affinity and community engagement.
  • A franchise model that creates entrepreneurship and ownership opportunities, a meaningful transformation and enterprise-development contribution.

Environmental

  • Made-to-order preparation that minimises food waste, and a move toward sustainable, lower-plastic packaging for both stores and the packaged range.
  • Energy-efficient refrigeration and backup power that mitigate load-shedding while managing energy cost and emissions, and local sourcing of dairy and ingredients where quality allows to reduce food miles and support local suppliers.

Governance and B-BBEE

The Company will pursue a credible B-BBEE posture appropriate to food retail, meaningful ownership, skills development and enterprise and supplier development (the franchise model lending itself naturally to the last), which supports access to prime retail and mall locations, corporate catering relationships and development-oriented funding. ESG metrics (employment, franchise ownership, training, waste, packaging and energy) will be tracked and reported to the board and investors.

StrengthFranchising as enterprise development

Frost & Roll’s franchise model is not only a growth engine but a genuine enterprise-development mechanism, creating business-ownership opportunities and jobs across the country. Combined with youth employment, low food waste and a move to sustainable packaging, this gives the brand an authentic social dimension that resonates with customers, landlords and development-oriented funders.
