2.1 The trade-off stated plainly
Limpopo’s heat is an asset in winter and a liability in summer. The same absence of frost that allows June production produces summer temperatures that stress crops, raise water demand and shorten shelf life between harvest and market. The plan responds with tunnels and shade for the high-value lines, drip irrigation throughout, and a crop calendar that concentrates the most valuable plantings into the cooler months rather than spreading them evenly across the year.
A grower who treats Limpopo as simply a cheaper place to farm will find the summer costs more than the winter earns. A grower who builds the calendar around the winter window will find the location is worth more than the land price suggests.
